Dongyue Fountain東岳湧泉

You can find Dongyue Fountain next to Dong Ao Elementary School in Su’ao Township, Yilan. With 14 to 16C temperature year round, crystal clear water, and even little fish swimming around inside; it has always been a popular spot for locals to cool off. After garnering attention online however, the Fountain is now a summer destination for tourists from all over the country.

Around Dongyue Fountain are camping grounds, rest areas, public restrooms, a large Parking lot and other facilities. The Fountain was discovered when an underground spring was uncovered during the railroad construction. Its cool water was redirected into the Dongao River, running about a couple of hundred meters long; it was later developed into the Dongyue Fountain Park.

The Fountain is an average of 60 cm deep and covered with stones on the bottom, so parents need to keep an eye on their children playing in the water to prevent accidents.

Trains will occasionally roar past on the bridge above while people play in the water right below, an amusing scene to behold. Before coming for refreshing summer fun, visitors should be aware that barbequing is prohibited on the Park grounds so that the popular destination is kept clean.
