Beiguan Tidal Park北關海潮公園
During the Jiaqing Regime of the Qing dynasty, Beiguan was an important border gate. The Qing court took advantage of the dangerous terrain of Beiguan to station troops at gateways to prevent bandits from entering Yilan. There are two ancient cannons with a hundred years of history placed in the Park, luring visitors nowadays to picture the majestic army flags flying with the wind at Beiguan in the old days.
Walking along the winding path along the coast, you can see the black cuesta and neat and uniform chessboard rocks all the way. The plants growing on those giant stones add a bit of green and change in the course of time.
After passing through the “One Line Sky” formed by tall cliffs on both sides, visitors can walk onto the reef and come close to the sea, which is absolutely magnificent, especially during the famous Beiguan High Tides, one of the eight spectacles of Lanyang, to watch the raging waves hitting the shore and listen to the roar of Mother Nature.

A magical spotThe Beiguan Tidal Park is a magical spot only a few minutes away by motorbike or by car from Toucheng. It is an ideal place to contemplate or listen to the mighty Pacific Ocean, not always pacific here! Take mosquito repellent if you intend to spend more than a few minutes in this lovely place. That might be useful!

For Nature LoversA 15 minute stopover is enough to appreciate Beiguan Tidal Park. Watching and hearing the waves splash against the rock formation is immensely relaxing and soothing. Ideal for both introspection, and for finding a new background screensaver, this place will definitely satisfy a broad range of visitors.
BeautifulBeautiful views, beautiful foliage ... A place to take your time and soak in the scenery and beauty. Allow two to three hours

Take a view of the seaWe originally intended to visit Guishan Island, but dropped the idea because of the big wave that might cause sea sickness. So we went to this tidal park to take a view of the Island and the ocean. Pretty amazing view when the tide hit the shore. It took a bit of uphill walk in order to get the great view, but not a difficult trail. My 8-year old niece could make it.
