Introduction
Located in the heart of the Old Town, the Yilan Museum of Art exhibits Yilan’s aesthetics and crafts. It is hoped the visitors will see the beauty of Yilan through the Museum and will be able to have an in-depth dialogue with Taiwan and the world through the local art.

The venue used to be the I-LAN Branch of the Bank of Taiwan, which was one of the seven branches of the Bank of Taiwan during the Japanese Colonial Period. The building was once destroyed in war. After reconstruction and transformation, it became a building dedicated to the preservation of history; this is why the Yilan Museum of Art is so precious.
Nanmenjiao beside the five-road junction is where the old south gate used to be in the old days. Now the artwork of Ying-Feng Yang, the master of art from Yilan, is installed there as the landmark of the Yilan Museum of Art. When walking in the Museum, you can experience the overlap between different times and space. You can feel the traces of history left in the Museum and see that the Bank of Taiwan’s treasure room has now become a storage room for files.

Moreover, the exhibition rooms on the first and second floors were planned to showcase Yilan’s artworks with different themes. The light gallery and roof floor are for visitors to appreciate Yilan City. In addition, the location of the Museum along with the cultural heritage on Jiucheng South Road, such as the Memorial Hall of Founding of Yilan Administration, Yilan Literary Museum, Luna Plaza and others have become places for the new urban cultural gallery.
