Dong'ao Bay, Fenniaolin東澳灣 粉鳥林漁港

Dong'ao Bay stretches from Wuyianjiao in the north to Wushibi in the south, with the curved land embracing a patch of deep blue sea. Beaches and black reefs make up the beautiful bay, a wonderful place to get lost to the sound of crashing waves.

At the southernmost part of Dong'ao Bay is Fenniaolin Fishing Harbor, a unique hidden harbor with clear waters and a quiet and unsophisticated beauty. In early days, many pigeons would gather there, and since pigeons were also called “fenniao”, that became the harbor's name.

There's a certain delight in standing on the layers of tetrapods, watching the vast blue ocean and hearing its white-capped waves wash over and over again onto the beach. Or take a kayak onto the seas and observe the ocean, glimmering under the sun, up close.

Not only can you see a lovely expanse of sky and ocean meeting at Fenniaolin Fishing Harbor, but it's a relatively secret spot with a variety of fish, attracting many avid fishers.

Small, good for just taking photos

Water is clear and not so many people, good for taking photos and you may buy some snacks next to it. The rocks there are black and grey colours, so special but it is just a small coast. Don’t expect too much.

    A gorgeous, romantic beach

    5 2019-09

It was raining heavily on our way to Fenniaolin (from Hualien). The rain finally stopped about 10 mins away from it (we almost gave up). Once we arrived, just a normal fish harbor. However, I spot a stairway going up at the end, so I went up there. Wow, what a fantastic, marvelous beach in front of me. It’s a small beach with some natural rocks forming a “bay”. We spent a lot of time taking many beautiful photos with this amazing, gorgeous view. We are so glad that we came here for this hidden gem. We then went to the restaurant ‘Ah Mian Yi” by the harbor to have a wonderful seafood feast (with very reasonable price”

small place for buying fish and taking photos

    5 2018-11

This is a small place you can go for buying fish and taking photos. One hour is enough if there is not so crowed. You can buy some fish as this is a fishing harbor, ans some street foods to eat. You can also take some photos with seaside and rock. It is beautiful.

A small place but lots of people on a weekend

    2 2018-08

Avoid this place on a weekend as the locals love to come here on weekends. And put on your walking shoes if you really want to explore the place as you will need to climb over huge rocks and walk on pebbled beach. Bring a towel to dry your feet if you want to go into the waters for some photos with the rocks.

The beach is renown as it is used in scenes of romantic dramas. You need to drive or get a cab to reach it. The sleepy fishing harbor has a very small restaurant where the food was cheap and taste so fresh.
